Late at night, Billy Pilgrim finds himself marooned within his own memories. While watching old films, he views his world in reverse, as well as the universe defying logic he attaches to it. Illustrating a passage from Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-five, Someplace in Time looks through charcoal, watercolor, collage, and film to capture the mind of a man reliving his past.

SOMEPLACE IN TIME // Film

Over the course of 2 years, this animated retelling of Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse 5, was carefully put together with watercolored drawings on paper, stop motion book pages, composited vfx, and an original soundtrack and voice. With over 200 scanned inked and watercolored cels, this film was brought to life with traditional animation techniques. Someplace in Time had it’s debut at the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library, and gained international recognition at the 29th Raindance Film Festival in London. Someplace in Time was also released as a printed hardcover collection of cels and frames.
